With over twenty years of practice in the international and domestic tax matters, Mr. Kim has developed practical experience as well as expert knowledge in a variety of tax issues and practices, including M&A and other transactional tax issues, tax treaty issues, tax audit assistance, resolution of tax controversies, tax rulings, legislative advisory, tax incentives, indirect taxes, real estate taxes, tax advices on setting up and restructuring of Korean operations of multinational companies, etc.
As a leading member of the firm's Finance Tax Practice, Mr. Kim works extensively with a broad range of companies in financial industry, such as securities companies, insurance companies, banks, mutual funds, leasing companies, credit card companies, investment advisory and management companies and other participants in the financial industry. He is a leading expert in advising tax issues related to financial products/transactions such as derivative transactions, securitization, capital market transactions, lease transactions, structured financing, acquisition and project financing.
Mr. Kim also has extensive expertise and experience in providing foreign and domestic private equity funds with tax advices relating to M&A, transaction evaluation and structuring, due-diligence reviews, contract negotiations and documentations, restructuring, and dispositions.
