Myoung Soo Cho is an attorney in Kim & Chang’s finance practice. Mr. Cho counsels various international financial institutions as well as local ones on the financial and securities regulations of Korea. Mr. Cho also works on a wide range of complex legal transactions which enables him to cover aspects of corporate compliance, M&A transactions, dual listings, project finance, structured finance, and litigation matters (such as market manipulation and insider trading), in addition to regulatory compliances and regulatory inspections and examinations relating to financial and securities regulations.
Over the past five years, Mr. Cho has represented clients engaged in a wide range of financial industries, such as securities transactions, asset management businesses, banking and general businesses of companies listed on the Korea Exchange.
Mr. Cho has experience with a variety of securities transactions and regulatory matters as he previously worked for the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) for five years. In the FSS’s Investigation Department, Mr. Cho was in charge of supervising compliance with securities regulations, with a focus on insider trading and market manipulation issues, often carrying out investigations of cases involving such issues. In the Disclosure Supervision Department of the FSS, Mr. Cho was responsible for overseeing the securities issuance and secondary market as well as the M&A market involving financial institutions and compliance with various disclosure requirements. Mr. Cho has also been involved in various research projects on the improvement of rules relating to the Korean securities and financial market.
