Don Jeon is a senior foreign attorney in the firm’s International Arbitration & Cross Border Litigation and Engineering & Construction Disputes Practices.
Mr. Jeon joined Kim & Chang from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP’s Dubai office from which he brings a wealth of experience in many high-profile arbitration and cross-border disputes with a particular focus on infrastructure, power, water, upstream and downstream energy, complex processing plants, hospitality and mixed purpose commercial developments construction and energy disputes, serving as counsel in ICC, LCIA, NAI, KCAB and AIAC cases, including a USD 1.2 billion independent water and power plant case arising out of Bahrain, a USD 500 million mixed-purpose development dispute arising out of Qatar, a USD 400 million major resort development in Abu Dhabi and a USD 2 billion major airport dispute in Dubai.
In particular, Mr. Jeon specializes in addressing complex technical and quantum issues using his extensive experience working with experts from around the world, including advising on complex issues arising out of floating oil production systems and airport operations systems. Mr. Jeon also has extensive experience in advising settlement negotiations, having settled high-stakes disputes on behalf of global construction engineering companies, manufacturers and government entities in cases spanning across the globe, including settling a major processing plant dispute in Saudi Arabia, a marine refinery development in Saudi Arabia and a series of manufacturing disputes across South America, Africa and South East Asia. Leveraging his technical experience, Mr. Jeon also advises clients in other highly complex sectors, such as insurance, manufacturing and private equity, recently advising a consortium of investors in a USD 2 billion shareholder dispute involving derivative options.
He has contributed to various publications, including International Construction and Energy Law and Korea Arbitration Review.
Mr. Jeon received a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and his B.A. from Yale University. He is admitted to the New York and New Jersey Bars.
