Geeta Thakerar is currently a Senior Advisor at Kim & Chang’s Singapore office. She is a foreign qualified attorney and a UK solicitor. She was admitted in 1985. She holds a current practicing certificate for England and Wales, issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under the Solicitors Act 1974.
Ms. Thakerar has been advising Kim & Chang since 2017 and has also served as the resident director of Kim & Chang Pte. Ltd. in Singapore, our firm’s Singapore registered foreign law practice. Her position as resident director was from early 2020 to end of 2024 inclusive.
She is a seasoned, experienced legal and compliance professional. She has over three decades of legal experience. Ms. Thakerar continues to work on a part-time basis as senior advisor for our firm.
She also maintains her own consultancy, independent from our firm, doing voluntary work and adhoc project work.
She has spent over two and a half decades in-house. She has over two decades of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with GlaxoSmithKline, both in UK as well as in Singapore. She also worked within the FMCG industry in-house for Kimberly Clark, in Singapore.
In both in house roles she was the APAC regional legal and compliance head.
She is currently doing voluntary work for a number of Associations. These include, the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (“SCCA”) where she is the co-convenor of its Well-Being Chapter. She is also an active member of the APAC Life Sciences Legal & Compliance Ethics Industry Group, and an Associate Member of the Singapore Academy of Law and Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, respectively.
She has done adhoc project work and given strategic support to both in-house lawyers, compliance professionals and law firms largely on legal and compliance strategy, compliance and policy matters, and client engagement and management. She is a seasoned coach and mentor for junior lawyers and young business executives, alike.
