Bio

Sangmyoung Shin is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices in finance law areas, with a focus on project finance, banking and finance, and energy. 

As a member of the firm’s banking and finance practices, his experience includes the representation of financial institutions and borrowers in a wide range of domestic and cross-border lending, including project finance, ECA-backed finance, ship finance and corporate loan transactions. He has negotiated transactions in the United States, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. IFLR1000 recognized his expertise stating, “He has good industry sector knowledge in project finance, a very client friendly attitude, and is accessible.”

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, he worked at the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) where his experience included negotiating for major transactions in the international project finance market. He was also seconded to Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy’s London office.

He currently serves as a member of the International Financial Industry Deliberation Committee for the government of Korea (Ministry of Economy and Finance).

He received his LL.M. from Fordham University, his J.D. from Seoul National University and his B.A. in business administration from Seoul National University. He is admitted to the New York bar and the Korean bar.
