Eun Young Park is an attorney at Kim & Chang, who serves as the co-chair of the International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice.

He also practices in anti-corruption and regulatory compliance, and international trade and customs.

He concentrates his practice on international arbitration proceedings as well as court proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, including international arbitrations under the rules of the renowned arbitral institutions and also sits as an arbitrator in international arbitration cases with a wide range of areas. Dr. Park has actively played a role in the development of international arbitration. He is currently serving as the Vice President of LCIA Court and the member of the SIAC Court of Arbitration. He is also on the board of Korean Council of International Arbitration and Executive Member of Seoul International Dispute Resolution Center. He was the Vice Chair of the IBA Arbitration Committee and the inaugural Co-Chair of the IBA Asia Pacific Arbitration Practice.

He also represents his clients in government investigations related to white-collar crimes including foreign bribery statutes, securities and corporate fraud before various government agencies, and regularly advises his clients on trade sanctions and disputes.

He has recently published “Appellate Review in Investor State Arbitration, Reshaping the Investor-State Dispute Settlement System: Journeys for the 21st Century.” He also published “The Analysis of the Iran Sanctions Act of the United States and the Strategy of the Overseas Construction Project” and “The Defense of Necessity in International Investment Dispute,” and regularly co-authors the Arbitration and Anti-Corruption sections for Law Business Research. He has also co-authored the book “Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods around the Globe.” He has earned numerous top rankings as one of the “leading attorneys” in Chambers Asia-Pacific for international arbitration, Expert Guide and The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration. Dr. Park has served as a judge in the Seoul District Court and teaches at law schools in Korea.

He received a doctorate degree (J.S.D.) and an LL.M. from the NYU School of Law after graduating from the Seoul National University (M.Jur. & B.Jur.). He is admitted to the New York bar and Korea bar.

  • Represented a major Korean company in an ICC arbitration governed by Korean law with the seat of arbitration in New York regarding a joint venture dispute, which remains one of the largest Latin American arbitrations conducted under ICC rule. The value of the dispute was in excess of USD 200 million. 
  • Represented a Korean petrochemical company in a joint venture dispute under ICC rules regarding a long term supply agreement between Korean and US petrochemical companies. 
  • Represented a US fund in a SIAC arbitration governed by Singaporean law with the seat of arbitration in Singapore in a dispute involving the exercise of a call option over its controlling shares in a Korean life insurance company. The value of claims was in excess of USD 950 million. 
  • Represented a Luxembourg company in an ICC arbitration against a major Korean construction company in Korea in a dispute relating to the construction of a new port in Busan. 
  • Represented a Korean energy company against Dubai and Indian companies, regarding a dispute in relation to power generating facility, in the international arbitration proceedings in the UK, Switzerland, and India. 
  • Served as a counsel to resolve a dispute by way of mediation, in regards to advice on investment between a Korean distribution company and a US financial group valued at approximately USD 12 million. 
  • Obtained final non-guilty judgment from the Supreme Court in a Securities and Exchange Act violation case by representing a foreign private equity fund involving a sale of Korean financial company shares.
