Bio

Ji Young Jung is an attorney at Kim & Chang. Drawing from her extensive litigation experience in court, Ms. Jung specializes in corporate disputes, criminal defense, human resources, finance, and administrative and public law litigation. 

Prior to joining Kim & Chang in 2020, Ms. Jung served as a judge, and later a presiding judge, for 16 years in various courts including the Seoul High Court, the Seoul Central District Court and the Seoul Administrative Court. During her tenure as a judge, she acquired extensive experience in a wide range of issues such as civil, criminal and administrative law matters. 

She also possesses experience and knowledge in court administration and public relations matters from her service in the National Court Administration as a director and in the Seoul High Court as a public relations officer.

  • Advised on shareholder’s disputes arising in connection with the Shareholders Agreement, including put options and drag-along rights, etc.
  • Defended the PEF executives in a criminal case derived from the put option dispute.
  • Represented the Preliminary Injunction for Prohibition of Issuance of New Shares in the Airline Merger Dispute.
  • Advised on shareholders’ management disputes (Preliminary injunction in relation to the issuance of new shares, presentation of agenda, claim for access to books of account, etc., applications in relation to General Shareholder’s Meeting, etc.).

  • Represented private funds and securities companies on civil cases.
  • Defended a financial institution and its officers on a criminal case of violation of FSCMA.
  • Advised on responding to sanctions procedures of the FSS, the SFC and the FSC.

  • Defended in criminal cases regarding fraud, bribery, serious accidents, etc.
  • Defended in criminal cases regarding FSCMA, CPA, Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, Patent Act, etc.

  • Represented in administrative cases of claims for revocation of deposition of imposing an administrative penalty/fine on grounds of unfair trading, including use of MNPI, short sale, etc.
