Hyoung Soo Kwon is a senior attorney at Kim & Chang.
Since joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Kwon has been advising clients across a wide range of commercial matters. He is known for his expertise in corporate M&A, real estate transactions and structured finance, and has advised the Korean government on proposed changes to the law, including the amendment to the Korean REITs Act.
Mr. Kwon has handled over 50 cross-border deals averaging over USD 100 million in value, including a number of multi-billion dollar deals. Also, he has extensive experience in private equity investment structures as well as collective investment structures. This includes counseling clients on the authorization processes (e.g., acquisition or filing of the license and the registration) and on regulatory compliance requirements.
Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kwon served as a Judge Advocate (Captain) in the Republic of Korea Air Force.
He received his LL.M. from Duke University in 2010, and his LL.B. from Seoul National University’s College of Law in 1998. In 2000, Mr. Kwon graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea, and since being admitted to the Korean bar, he has been an active member of the Korean Bar Association.
