Before joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Hong served in the judiciary for 17 years as a judge in district and appellate courts. He also served as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea. During his tenure as a judge, Mr. Hong gained extensive experience in a wide range of matters in civil, criminal, administrative and labor litigations.

Reflecting his broad experience as a judge, Mr. Hong practices in a wide range of areas including civil, administrative, and criminal litigation. In his civil litigation practice, Mr. Hong specializes in preliminary injunction, transaction of loans and banking, and real estate. He also has an administrative litigation practice focusing on general administration and labor dispute cases.
