Shane Y. Hong is a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang.

He practices in a wide range of corporate and IT areas, with a focus on fair trade and anti-trust, mergers and acquisitions, privacy and information protection, anti-bribery, and labor and employment.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hong has been actively involved in many high-profile transactions in Korea or relating to Korean businesses including IT, software, hardware and CMOS image sensor technologies.

In the IT Practice, Mr. Hong assists a broad range of companies in the IT sector, specializing in relational database mangagement systems, software, firm middleware, and applications licensing and consulting, as well as hardware and operating systems transactions. Mr. Hong’s practice encompasses fair trade and anti-trust law, privacy and data protection law, anti-bribery law, labor and employment law, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Hong was the Representative Director and Senior Legal Director at Oracle Korea Ltd. in Seoul. Prior to joining Oracle Korea, Mr. Hong worked as the General Counsel and Investor Relations Officer at Pixelplus Co., Ltd., a company listed on the NASDAQ in the United States which designed and developed CMOS image sensors and related technologies.

Mr. Hong received a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law School in 1999, and obtained a Masters in Pacific International Affairs from the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California at San Diego in 1994 and B.A. in Economics and International Area Studies from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1991. He is admitted to the Washington D.C. Bar.
