On June 8, 2022, Kim & Chang, sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (the “MOLIT”), co-hosted the second webinar of the Overseas Construction Law Plaza 2022 series, along with the International Contractors Association of Korea (“ICAK”) and BCLP.

The webinar which focused on updates on the construction law trend initiated with opening remarks from Byung-Woo Im of Kim & Chang and Seong-Ik Oh of MOLIT.  Daewoong Lee and Jaeha Kwon of our firm also joined as speakers along with Shy Jackson, James Clarke and Kwon Lee from BCLP.

In particular, Mr. Lee led the discussion based on his own work experience and shared how recent English law on construction issues introduced by BCLP can be reflected in the future construction business strategies of Korean companies.  Ms. Kwon discussed recent trends in dispute resolution of construction disputes, such as assessment of claims during the COVID pandemic and methods of dispute resolution.

Kim & Chang’s International Construction & Project Team plans to continue inviting construction specialist attorneys and experts and host seminars that may be helpful to Korean companies engaging in overseas projects.
