Jae Ha Kwon is an English-qualified foreign attorney and a valuable member of the International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation, Shipping Litigation, and Engineering & Construction Practices at Kim & Chang. With a career spanning over a decade, she has developed a strong client base, representing both Korean and international clients in various areas, including commercial arbitrations, court proceedings, and other forms of dispute resolution.

Ms. Kwon’s addition to Kim & Chang, initially as the sole English-trained solicitor in the arbitration team, has significantly contributed to the growth of the firm’s arbitration group. Her expertise and experience have been instrumental in handling complex matters, particularly in the energy, construction, infrastructure, transport, and shipping sectors. She has represented clients in numerous arbitration cases under renowned arbitral institutions, such as the LCIA, ICC, SIAC, KCAB, LMAA, and GAFTA, and has also handled ad-hoc arbitrations. Her expertise is often sought for high-value construction and commercial disputes.

Throughout her career, Ms. Kwon has navigated through complex legal issues spanning multiple jurisdictions, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Trinidad, Singapore, and South Korea. As a solicitor practicing in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Korea, she has gained extensive exposure to a wide range of intricate legal matters.

Actively involved in the broader arbitration community, Ms. Kwon has consistently contributed to the field. She served as a member of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration’s Young MCIA Steering Committee from 2019 to 2023, where she represented South Korea and made valuable contributions. Additionally, she has been a Review Committee Member of the Delos Guide to Arbitration Places (GAP) since 2019, engaging in the publication of arbitration guides related to various jurisdictions. Currently, Ms. Kwon holds the esteemed position of LCIA YIAG Representative for the Asia-Pacific region.

Ms. Kwon holds a B.Sc. degree in Economics from University College London (2007) and an LL.B. from the University of Law, England and Wales (2009). She is admitted to the Senior Courts of England and Wales, demonstrating her proficiency in practicing law in these jurisdictions. Ms. Kwon is an active member of the British Korean Law Association and the Anglo-Korean Society.
