On June 16, 2020, Kim & Chang received the “Litigation Grand Prize” and the “Arbitration Grand Prize” at the 3rd Korea Legal Awards.
Byung-Moon Jung, Jae Hong Lee, Eui-Hwan Kim, Sung Gweon Cho, Sang Woo Lee and Yeo Jeong Yoon of Kim & Chang’s Tax Practice received the “Litigation Grand Prize” for successfully obtaining a Supreme Court decision that Luxembourg SICAVs were entitled to reduced withholding tax rate on interest and dividend income under the Korea-Luxembourg Tax Treaty.
Eun Young Park, Wonyoung (Karyn) Yoo and Bo Ram Hong of Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice (“Arbitration Practice”), were awarded the “Arbitration Grand Prize” for successfully defending a major Korean pharmaceutical company in an ICC arbitration against a foreign pharmaceutical company with a comprehensive strategy based on an in-depth review of factual background on EU pharmaceutical regulations.

About the Korea Legal Awards: The Korea Legal Awards was co-hosted by Money Today, a leading Korean economic newspaper, and Korea In-house Counsel Association (KICA). It was co-organized by Naver Law and sponsored by the Seoul Bar Association, Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KORCHAM) and Korea Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB). The awards reviewed key litigation, advisory and arbitration cases in 2019 based on the following criteria: innovative approach, significance of case, and degree of public contribution.
