Daehee Lee is a foreign attorney in Kim & Chang’s international arbitration & cross-border litigation practice and shipping, shipbuilding & offshore construction practice. 

Mr. Lee is an arbitration specialist in complex and high-value contentious matters with particular expertise in shipping, shipbuilding & offshore and onshore construction disputes. Recent highlight includes representing two of Korea’s largest construction companies in relation to a USD 500 million nuclear power plant dispute in LCIA arbitration proceedings and a Korean shipbuilder in a LMAA dispute concerning design responsibility and delay issues. Mr. Lee is also regularly instructed in a wide array of shipping matters involving charterparty and bills of lading disputes. 

Mr. Lee joined Kim & Chang from Stephenson Harwood LLP from which he brings a wealth of experience in many high-profile arbitration disputes. He also served in the Korean Navy as a Judge Advocate and particularly enjoyed the unique experience of sailing for international counter-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia. Having also worked at Samsung Engineering as an in-house lawyer, Mr. Lee has gained in-depth industry knowledge and ability to understand the intricacies of technical detail. 

Mr. Lee is recognized as a “Leading Lawyer 2019 - International Arbitration” by Legal Times and “arbitration specialist” by The Legal 500 in its 2018 rankings guide.

Mr. Lee received an LL.B. from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2008. He is qualified to practice law in England & Wales, Australia (New South Wales) and New Zealand.
