Bio

Hyemin Park is an attorney in Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice, International Construction Practice and Energy Practice.

Ms. Park has extensive experience representing domestic and multinational clients in numerous international commercial arbitration cases, involving various arbitral institutions (ICC, LCIA, SIAC, KCAB and AAA), governing law and seat of arbitration.

Her recent work relates to cross-border disputes involving power plant, construction, engineering and infrastructure projects in various countries. Ms. Park also has experience in disputes relating to shareholders’ agreement, concession agreement, insurance agreement and sales agreement, among others. She also regularly advises clients in drafting arbitration agreements and handling enforcement matters.

Ms. Park was appointed and served as the Regional Representative of the North Asia Chapter of International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum (“ICC YAF”) from 2019 to 2021. Ms. Park, as the only Regional Representative of ICC YAF in Korea, promoted and developed network for younger practitioners in international arbitration by organizing various activities and events.

She has also served as the Sports Arbitration Lawyer for PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Ms. Park has co-authored “Getting the Deal Through (Korea Chapter, Arbitration)” from 2019 to 2022. She has also contributed in publishing “Doing Business 2019: Training for Reform” and also co-authored “Singapore Laws”.

Ms. Park has received her J.D. from Seoul National University, School of Law in 2014 and also LL.M. from Columbia Law School in 2023. Also, she has received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Yonsei University, College of Business in 2011. She is admitted to the Korean bar and is fluent in both Korean and English.

  • Represented a thermal power generation system and technology company in a KCAB international arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law and CISG, against a Korean power generation company in a dispute related to supply of turbine generator. 
  • Represented a Korean construction company in an ICC arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by English law, against a project owner in a dispute arising out of an agreement to supply major equipment for a large power plant project in the Middle East. 
  • Represented US cable suppliers in a KCAB international arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law and CISG, against a Korean government-owned corporation in a dispute related to a contract for supply of safety rated cable for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Korea. 
  • Represented a UK contractor in a KCAB international arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law and CISG, against a Korean government-owned corporation in a dispute related to a contract for supply of pumps for a nuclear power plant in Korea. 
  • Represented a Korean construction company in an LCIA arbitration seated in London and governed by English law against a Saudi Arabian company in a dispute related to an EPC project in Saudi Arabia. 
  • Represented a Korean infrastructure company in an ICC arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law, against the Korean government in a dispute related to an interpretation of a non-compete clause under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project concession agreement. 
  • Represented a Canadian energy company in an ad-hoc arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law, against several Korean insurance companies in a dispute related to insurance contracts for damages in a nuclear power plant. 
  • Represented a Korean subsidiary of a French industrial gas supplier in an ICC arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law, against a Korean company in a dispute regarding early termination of a long-term contract for the supply of industrial gas. 
  • Advised a Korean subsidiary of a Swiss company in an ICC arbitration seated in Singapore and governed by Korean law, against an airline company in a dispute related to a catering agreement. 
  • Represented shareholders in a dispute related to shareholders' agreement against the counterparty in an ICC arbitration seated in Seoul and governed by Korean law.
