Bio

Hwa Soo Chung is a foreign attorney who serves as a co- chair of the firm's Life Sciences and Healthcare Practice. She also practices as a member of the Antitrust & Competition Law Practice and Sports & Luxury Industry Practice.

As chair of the firm’s Life Sciences and Healthcare practice, Ms. Chung advises a broad range of companies in the pharmaceutical/medical device/food/cosmetic sectors, including  on corporate, regulatory, compliance, and general commercial law issues. As to the pharmaceutical/medical device industries in particular, she is an expert on compliance/anti-corruption,  and competition law issues relating to promotional and marketing practices in the industry, M&A, restructuring of business operations, and corporate governance. She has spoken at numerous forums on compliance and industry regulation throughout the Asia Pacific, including at the Asia Pacific Pharma Congress and Seton Hall’s Asia Pacific Healthcare Compliance Certificate Program. 

Outside of the health-related sector, Ms. Chung has extensive experience in advising consumer goods/retail/luxury sector clients on regulatory, competition law, privacy, and distribution-related issues. 

Ms. Chung’s representative work in recent years includes assisting  pharmaceutical and medical device clients in investigations by competition authorities with respect to marketing and promotional practices; establishing/strengthening company compliance/training programs; and advising on implementing global mergers in Korea, obtaining listing/desired reimbursement scope for new drugs or increase in reimbursement price of existing drugs, and  restructuring/terminating distribution arrangements.
