Tran Thi Thu Thao is a foreign attorney in Kim & Chang’s Vietnam Practice. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, real estate transactions, and a broad range of corporate and regulatory compliance matters. Ms. Thao advises multinational clients, including major Japanese, Thai and Korean conglomerates, on investing and conducting business in Vietnam, including investment structuring, transaction execution, and ongoing compliance support for day-to-day business activities.

Ms. Thao has been involved in numerous high-profile transactions involving the investments and business operations of multinational clients in Vietnam, including Japanese, Thai and Korean conglomerates, as well as European and US investors. She regularly advises corporate clients on a broad range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, large-scale real estate projects, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. She also advises lenders on certain high-profile financing transactions in Vietnam.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Ms. Thao worked at A&O Shearman for five years, focusing on M&A, capital markets, and real estate-related matters. She also served as a foreign attorney in the Hanoi office of Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, one of Japan’s leading law firms, for four years. In addition, she spent four years at VILAF, a leading Vietnamese law firm, where she advised clients on a range of corporate and transactional matters.

Ms. Thao received her LL.M. from the Transnational Law and Business University (TLBU) in Korea in 2013, her LL.B. from the School of Law at Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 2011. She was admitted to bar in Vietnam (Hanoi Bar Association) in 2017.
