Bio

Kyung Won Choi, a former Minister of Justice, has advised and represented a diverse group of corporate clients and individuals in matters ranging from criminal defense and investigation to employment and antitrust related litigation. 

Mr. Choi served as a public prosecutor for 26 years. He began his career as a Judge Advocate for the Republic of Korea Army in 1972. He became the Director of Planning & Management of the Ministry of Justice in 1993. In 1995, he became the Chief Prosecutor of Daegu District Prosecutors' Office. In 1997, Mr. Choi served as a Senior Prosecutor/Director of the Criminal Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office; simultaneously, he was a Senior Prosecutor/Director of the Prosecution Bureau of the Ministry of Justice. Thereafter, Mr. Choi became the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice in 1998. He worked for Kim & Chang as a senior partner in 2000, and then served as a Minister in the Ministry of Justice in 2001 before re-joining Kim & Chang in 2002. 

He earned his LL.B. from the College of Law at Seoul National University and his LL.M. from the Graduate School of Law at Seoul National University. He also attended the Max-Planck Institute of International Criminal Law. He is admitted to the Korean bar.
