Yong Dae KIM - Kim & Chang

Bio

Yong Dae Kim is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He served as a judge from 1991 to 2021, including a tenure as the Chief Judge of the Seoul Family Court, before joining Kim & Chang in 2025. Of his 30 years of judicial experience, Mr. Kim gained substantial expertise in civil proceedings, particularly handling applications for provisional measures, including rulings to determine a temporary status, during his four years at the Seoul Central District Court. In his final two years at the Seoul High Court, Mr. Kim dealt with issues concerning legal reserves of inheritance and family law matters.

As the Chief Judge of the Seoul Family Court, he further accumulated diverse experience in family law matters, including divorce and property division, inheritance division, and guardianship. Building upon the experiences acquired through family law cases and research on tax law, Mr. Kim is currently focusing on divorce and property division, adult guardianship, wills and trusts as will substitutes, inheritance including legal reserves, and business succession through lifetime gifts and related tax matters at the newly established Family Law and Business Succession Center at Kim & Chang in 2025.
