Bio

Ilwon Kang is an attorney at Kim & Chang. Mr. Kang graduated from Seoul National University and passed the National Bar Examination in 1981. After finishing a two-year program of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, he was appointed as a judge of the Seoul District Court. Mr. Kang served as a judge for 27 years. During his career in the court, he received an LL.M. from the University of Michigan and worked as an expert advisor for several judicial reform committees in Korea. In 2012, he was selected as one of nine justices of the Constitutional Court by the National Assembly. His term of office ended in 2018. He also worked as a member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (better known as the Venice Commission) from 2013 to 2019. Now, he is working as a private attorney and serving as the chair of various commissions, such as the Human Rights Commission of the Prosecutors’ Office, the Special Commission for Criminal Justice, and the Public Service Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court.

Ilwon Kang is an attorney at Kim & Chang. Mr. Kang graduated from Seoul National University and passed the National Bar Examination in 1981.
