Kyungtae Ma is an attorney at Kim & Chang’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications and Privacy & Data Security Practices. He primarily advises multinational corporations and Korean conglomerates on TMT regulations, artificial intelligence (“AI”), personal information and e-commerce law.

Mr. Ma has represented a number of multinational corporations on issues surrounding cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence. Drawing on his expertise in law and technology, Mr. Ma has carried out high-profile AI-related cases involving an AI chatbot service and facial recognition system and advised financial institutions on the establishment of an AI governance model.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Ma worked as a partner at Bae, Kim & Lee, where he specialized in TMT regulations, artificial intelligence, personal information, and e-commerce. Mr. Ma has also been supporting the Korean government in shaping AI and digital policies by serving in advisory roles to the Public-Private Joint Committees of Ministry of Science and ICT, Personal Information Protection Commission, and Korea Media and Communications Commission.

Mr. Ma was named as a leading individual (Rising Star) in the TMT practice by Legal 500 Asia Pacific: South Korea.
