Bio

Duc Minh Nguyen is a foreign attorney at Kim & Chang’s Vietnam Practice. He practices primarily in mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment and other corporate matters. Mr. Minh has advised a number of Korean conglomerates to invest and conduct businesses in Vietnam.

Throughout his career, Mr. Minh has been actively involved in many high-profile transactions relating to the investment and business of Korean investors in Vietnam. He regularly advises private equity funds and corporate clients (including some of the biggest Korean companies in Vietnam) on various M&A, joint ventures, corporate governance compliance and other projects.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Minh was a foreign attorney at Lee & Ko in Vietnam for more than six years and at other Korean law firms for more than ten years.

Mr. Minh received his LL.M from Transnational Law and Business University in Korea in 2005, his LL.B. from Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in 2000, his Bachelor of Accounting and Auditing from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics in 1998, and his Lawyer license from the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam in 2003. He was admitted to the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association.

Advised foreign banks to establish banks and bank branches in Vietnam.

Dispute Resolution - Arbitration

Advised Korean companies owning office buildings and apartments in lease and apartment sale and purchase disputes.
Acted as arbitrator of Pacific International Arbitration Center (PIAC) to settle trade disputes.
Advised clients in construction of waste water system dispute.
Advised clients and conducted a number of cases regarding recognition of the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards and foreign judgements in Vietnam.

Tax

Advised a corporation and worked with some provincial tax competent authorities to get a tax refund in accordance with the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation between Vietnam and Korea.
