Seoung-Ho Shin is an attorney at Kim & Chang. His practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, anti-corruption & corporate compliance, intellectual property, and international trade & customs. 

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Shin served as a public prosecutor and state attorney in the Ministry of Justice, and also served for the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations in New York. 

As a public prosecutor, he engaged in investigations, prosecutions and trials of various criminal cases involving stock market manipulation, tax evasion, customs violations and intellectual property issues. While serving for the International Legal Affairs Division of the Ministry of Justice, he dealt with free trade agreements, international trade and international arbitration. In particular, he launched an initiative to establish in Korea the first Regional Center for Asia and Pacific of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). As a Legal Adviser for the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, he handled a wide range of international legal issues such as international trade law and international criminal justice. 

Mr. Shin has authored various articles including “Recent Developments in the U.S. Federal Sentencing Regime after Booker Decision” (2008) and co-published “Intellectual Property Practice Casebook” (2012). He participated, as a government representative, in a number of negotiations and meetings including Korea-Australia FTA negotiations, UNCITRAL Working Group meetings and the Assembly of State Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. 

Mr. Shin received an LL.B. from Seoul National University College of Law in 1995, and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2007. He graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 2000. He is admitted to the Korean bar.
