Hyun Chung is a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang and is a member of the firm’s Anti-Corruption & Corporate Compliance, Corporate Investigations & White Collar Defense, International Trade & Customs, Renewable Energy, Project Finance, Finance, Corporate and National Assembly practices. Mr. Chung regularly advises clients on anti-corruption and corporate compliance, corporate investigations and white collar defense, customs investigations and audits, FTA disputes, renewable energy issues, management dispute and corporate governance matters, including conducting internal investigations, guiding compliance programs (including BSA/AML compliance, OFAC sanctions and FCPA) and navigating complex crisis management situations. In white collar defense and compliance matters, he advises major global clients on disputes, criminal investigations, customs investigations and internal investigations.

His extensive finance background includes expertise in corporate finance, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), leveraged investments, and various other structured products and derivatives. He has advised both issuers and underwriters in a broad range of securities offerings, including CLOs, CDOs, high-yield securities, convertible debt securities, medium-term notes, equity linked securities, trust preferred securities, exchangeable bonds, common stock and equity units. He also has analyzed, drafted and negotiated OTC and bespoke derivatives documents.

Mr. Chung has also extensively advised clients on various corporate matters, including asset or share purchase transactions, leveraged buyouts, strategic investments, joint ventures, energy investments, internal reorganizations, and private equity investments for a sovereign wealth fund.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Chung was a Shareholder (partner) at Greenberg Traurig, LLP in New York, where he advised a wide range of clients across various corporate and finance matters. Prior to Greenberg, he served as a Director & Counsel at Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC, New York, where he specialized in structured products, including collateralized loan obligations and collateralized debt obligations, and at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, New York, where he concentrated his practice on capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Chung received B.A. in political science, magna cum laude, at Yale University and J.D. at Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1994 and the District of Columbia bar in 1995. He is native in Korean and English, fluent in French and proficient in Japanese.
