Hyok-Chan Kwon is attorney at Kim & Chang who provides legal advisory services in a wide range of areas, including anti-corruption and corporate compliance, life sciences and healthcare, antitrust and competition, corporate investigations and white collar defense, and digital forensics.

Mr. Kwon possesses extensive experience in establishing and strengthening compliance systems for major domestic and overseas companies in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, automobiles, home shopping, steelmaking, IT, and distribution. Based on his extensive experience in the healthcare industry, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, and cosmetics, Mr. Kwon provided extensive advice to clients in the industry in relation to the industry’s unique regulations, such as rebates and licenses, fair trade, labeling and advertising, third-party relationships with parties including distributors and CSOs, consumer response, criminal issues, customs, labor, and mergers and acquisitions.

In particular, Mr. Kwon successfully represented a large number of companies in and out of Korea in a wide range of fair trade cases. He achieved successful results by advising clients and persuading regulators based on his understanding of the characteristics of the relevant industry and each individual client’s situation. Also, Mr. Kwon has consistently engaged in anti-corruption monitoring and inspection activities for domestic and overseas companies in various industries. For example, if corruption or misconduct is suspected within a company, he conducts an internal investigation, including digital forensics and in-depth interviews, to provide a successful solution to the client.

Mr. Kwon is also involved in external activities, such as giving lectures on compliance and ethical management at numerous companies and various institutions and organizations such as Thomson Reuters, the Korea Fair Competition Federation, the Korean Research-based Pharma Industry Association, and the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association.
