Bio

Anthony Jeong is a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in the area of government contracts, labor and employment, immigration, and antitrust and competition. 

Mr. Jeong has extensive experience in the aerospace and defense industries. During his service as a judge advocate in the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA), he served as a Legal Officer for Foreign Contracts at the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA), where he reviewed and negotiated procurement contracts, mostly for weapon systems for the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) and the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). He was also a member of the task force aimed at reforming the defense acquisition system and a founding member of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), where he was honorably discharged in 2006. As a member of the firm’s Aerospace & Defense Practice, he has been actively involved in representing global defense companies in DAPA acquisition projects as well as Agency for Defense Development (ADD) R&D projects. He also advised multinational companies in non-military tenders solicited by the Public Procurement Service (PPS). 

Mr. Jeong is also a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. He advises foreign companies doing business in Korea on a broad range of day-to-day HR issues, including rules of employment, wages and compensation, termination, and retirement benefits. He also has extensive experience in immigration and visa related matters. As a core member of the Immigration Team, he advises multinational companies on various visa and residency related issues in connection with mobilizing executives, engineers and skilled workers to Korea. 

As a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition Practice, he has advised a broad range of companies in distribution agreements and terminations, and assisted with franchise transactions and registrations for clients in food and beverage, fashion, education and hotel industries. He co-authored a number of franchise publications, including the International Franchise Lawyers Association’s “The Franchisor’s Guide to International Franchising” (Korea Chapter). In 2018, he was nominated as “one of the world’s leading practitioners” by Who’s Who Legal. 

Mr. Jeong received a B.A. from the New York University in 1997 and a J.D. from the Michigan State University in 2001. He is admitted to the New York bar.
