Byung-Suk Chung is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in shipping, shipbuilding, insurance, international trade and related international arbitration & cross border litigation.

Mr. Chung has handled numerous maritime cases, insurance and reinsurance disputes, domestic and cross-border litigation, and arbitrations involving international trade disputes.

Mr. Chung has been an arbitrator on the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board since 1994 and an arbitrator at SCMA since 2017. He has been the mediator of Seoul Central District Court since 1998. Mr. Chung has served as the President of Korea Maritime Law Association (2012-2014) and the Korean Private International Law Association (2015-2018). Mr. Chung is one of the founders and has been the president of Seoul Maritime Arbitrators Association since 2018 and the president of Korea Maritime Forum since May 2023. Mr. Chung is also teaching maritime law at Seoul National University Law School and Korea University Law School as an adjunct professor.

Mr. Chung has authored multiple publications, such as the 'Shipping & International Trade Law Korea Chapter' (Thomson Reuters). In 2022, he received the 2nd Korea Maritime Law Association Academic Award (Hae-In Award). He has consistently been acknowledged as a 'Leading' attorney by Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500 (Hall of Fame in 2023), and Asialaw Profiles.

Mr. Chung received an LL.M. from University College London in 1987 and an LL.B. from the College of Law, Seoul National University in 1977. He also attended the Graduate School of Law, Seoul National University in 1980 and the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 1980.

He was admitted to the Korea bar in 1980.
