Chunsoo Lee is an attorney-at-law at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in intellectual property rights, entertainment law, protection of trade secrets, protection of corporate & personal information, product liability, and consumer claims. As a senior member of the firm’s intellectual property, product liability, and trade-secret protection team, Mr. Lee has handled various civil and criminal litigations and provided advice on the related issues.

Mr. Lee joined Kim & Chang after resigning from his position as a judge at the Seoul Central District Court in 2007. Since then, based on his engineering understanding, Mr. Lee has served as an advisor and legal counsel for a wide range of legal issues related to the technologies of domestic and foreign companies. On behalf of major domestic and foreign companies, Mr. Lee has obtained successful results in IP disputes such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and unfair competition, as well as product liability disputes in relation to electricity, electronics, machinery, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and energy, as well as construction and facility defects. In addition, based on his years of experience as a counsel for domestic and foreign companies, he provides strategic advice to clients on various issues.
Mr. Lee has accomplished great achievements in IP and PL litigations representing leading overseas companies from the US, Japan, Europe, Australia, China, as well as Taiwan. In Particular, Mr. Lee was in charge of the first foreign-language trial of the Patent Court, Case No. 1 of the International Panel of the Patent Court. In addition, he won Korea's first substantive international patent lawsuit, where both the plaintiff and the defendant were overseas companies (US and Japanese companies). Mr. Lee also handled the first cross-border case applying the Act on Prevention of Divulgence and Protection of Industrial Technology. Moreover, he won the first case which applied the "provision prohibiting unauthorized use of others' performance" (referred to as the "catch all" clause) based on Article 2, Subparagraph 1, Item K of the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act, and led the first Supreme Court judicial precedent. Mr. Lee has actively produced successful results in many important cases, representing not only large enterprises but also SMEs and venture companies.

Mr. Lee has published a number of papers on IP & PL issues and participated as an author of several commentaries regarding the Copyright Act, the Entertainment Law, etc. In addition, he participated in the preparation committee for the 2013 Korea-US IP Judicial Conference (co-hosted by the Patent Court and the US Federal Court of Appeals). Since 2015, he has been serving as the Chairman of the International Committee of the Korean Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (the "KIPLA") and has held international IP conferences (attended by judges of the US Federal Court of Appeals, eminent IP attorneys from the US, and renowned IP attorneys from Japan). Mr. Lee has taken key roles in International IP Court conferences with the Patent Court, and has been serving as the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Community of the Seoul Bar Association since 2019. As such, he has been constructively contributing to the development of technology-related laws in Korea.
