Bio

Dae-Young Kim is an attorney at Kim & Chang who practices in a wide range of areas including antitrust & competition, antitrust & competition litigation, corporate investigations & white collar defense, labor & employment, and litigation. Mr. Kim has extensive experience in advising various clients across the distribution, construction, communication and sports industries, as well as the (re)insurance and finance industries. 

As an active member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition Practice, Mr. Kim has led cases involving the Fair Trade Law, response to investigations and deliberations of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (“KFTC”), and various litigations related to sanctions imposed by the KFTC. 

In particular, Mr. Kim represented a company in a case where the KFTC imposed sanctions for allegedly conducting five kinds of unfair business practices, and successfully obtained a court’s judgment declaring revocation of all sanctions. Also in a case involving alleged unfair support within the distribution industry, he served as a counsel at the criminal proceedings stage and obtained a final verdict of “not guilty.” He also received a decision rendering revocation during a case where fines were imposed on a company for alleged interference with investigation by its officers and employees. 

Mr. Kim has been actively engaged in the labor & employment area as well. In particular, while conducting specialized research on issues related to improving workplace environment, such as sexual and workplace harassment and discrimination in the workplace, which are newly emerging issues in Korea, he has been highly involved in providing advisory services for relevant cases and performing internal investigations. He provides education for prevention of sexual and workplace harassment for various clients. He also successfully represented a client in a National Human Rights Commission case regarding discrimination. 

Additionally, as a former police officer, Mr. Kim has an in-depth understanding of the criminal case proceedings and criminal justice system based on his experience in various types of investigations, including economic crimes, violation of the Special Act and violation of the Network Act. Drawing from these experiences, Mr. Kim has handled multiple cases in the corporate investigations & white collar defense area and obtained successful results.
