Byung-Woo Im and Dami Park, members of Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice, participated in a webinar hosted by the Society of Construction Law, Korea (“SCL Korea”), titled “Construction Law Update 2023” on February 21, 2023.

This webinar is an annual event that invites construction lawyers from various branches of the SCL, which is a globally recognized academic organization, to share relevant information with Korean construction industry professionals.  In particular, the speakers discussed the latest significant construction law cases in the UK, the Middle East, and Singapore.

Following the opening remarks from Mr. Im, the Vice Chairman of SCL Korea, Ms. Park introduced the Soteria Insurance Limited v. IBM United Kingdom Limited [2022] EWCA Civ 440, a UK court decision, in Session one.  Ms. Park also discussed the exclusion clause and its effect on limiting liabilities for damages.
