KCAB INTERNATIONAL’s Women’s Interest Committee (“WIC”) hosted a seminar titled “Women in Mediation 2022” in collaboration with the Singapore International Mediation Centre (the “SIMC”) on November 10, 2022, at the Seoul IDRC, located in KCAB INTERNATIONAL’s Seoul office.

The seminar included an open and candid discussion on recent topics regarding women in mediation moderated by Una Cho, a senior foreign attorney from Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice.  Ms. Cho serves as the inaugural chair of the WIC.

Also, attorneys Sae Youn Kim, Sue Hyun Lim and Hye Sung Kim participated as speakers.  The event featured a role-playing session commentated by the SIMC followed by a panel discussion where the panelists shared key skills and practical tips for a successful mediation.  Ms. Sae Youn Kim took a role of a negotiating party during the role-playing session, and showed the audience what would be the interest of companies during the mediation process.  Ms. Lim led the following panel discussion, where the invited mediators and practitioners discussed the importance of diversity and sensitivity to cultural and other stylistic differences during mediation and Ms. Hye Sung Kim shared her experience in a real mediation case involving a Korean company.
