SIAC Lecture in Seoul: The (Ab)use of Due Process in International Arbitration

2022.07.20

On July 20, 2022, Kim & Chang hosted the SIAC (Singapore International Arbitration Centre) Lecture in Seoul, inviting Lucy Reed, the president of the SIAC Court of Arbitration.

In this seminar in which Lucy Reed lectured on “The (Ab)use of Due Process in International Arbitration,” Kim & Chang’s Wonyoung (Karyn) Yoo spoke as the host and Sue Hyun Lim, a former Secretary General of the KCAB (Korean Commercial Arbitration Board) also joined as part of the panel, along with renowned international arbitration practitioners.  In particular, Ms. Lim discussed how the issues raised under the pretext of due process infringement ultimately cause procedural delays and increased costs, weakening the efficiency of international arbitration.  The seminar was well attended and well received with many of the audience members staying on to ask various questions during the Q&A session at the end of the seminar.

Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Group plans to continue inviting internationally renowned practitioners and experts and host lectures that contribute to the development of domestic companies and international arbitration.
