On October 5, 2021, Kim & Chang’s Intellectual Property Practice and a German law firm, Preu Bohlig, hosted a joint webinar on “Introduction of Germany’s New Trade Secret Protection Act and Comparison with the Korean Trade Secret Protection Act.”

To better address the featured topics from diverse perspectives, several Kim & Chang professionals equipped with in-depth knowledge and expertise on both Korean and German trade secret protection laws as well as on international IP issues participated in the webinar.  Jong Dug Choi (Foreign Patent Attorney) facilitated the webinar as a moderator and Seung-Chan Eom (Korean Attorney) presented an overview of the Korean trade secret protection laws as well as a comparison between the Korean and German practices.  In order to maximize the audience’s convenience and understanding, Jukyung Park (Foreign Patent Attorney) and Clare Ryeojin Park (Foreign Trademark Attorney) also took part and provided real-time Korean subtitles. 

The webinar was well received with positive responses and feedback by IP practitioners of various Korean companies that operate businesses and/or R&D activities in Germany as a valuable opportunity to learn about the German Trade Secret Protection Act and to further enhance their understanding of the Korean trade secret protection law.  More informative webinars of this kind will follow to help the management of businesses stay at the forefront of their relevant industries.
