2019 KCLA Summer Symposium on the “Tasks and Outlook of the Laws for Fairness in Distribution Industry Transactions”

2019.06.15

On June 14, In Seon Choi, an attorney at Kim & Chang, participated in a panel discussion at the 2019 Korea Competition Law Association (“KCLA”) Summer Symposium on the “Tasks and Outlook of the Laws for Fairness in Distribution Transactions.”

The panel discussion, covering a broad range of issues, was the third and final event of the symposium, and was proceeded by two earlier group discussions on the “Tasks and Future Outlook for the Advancement of Distribution Laws” and the “Current Issues and Possible Legal Means for Increasing Fairness in Distribution Transactions.”

During the third discussion, Ms. Choi explained how important it is in this rapidly changing distribution environment to continue the discussion on the issue of predictability and to update relevant laws and regulations in pace with major developments.  Further, she emphasized that the regulators should use appropriate means of regulation that keep up with the changes, and pointed out that if there are plans to create a new law/system to regulate a specific industry/sector, considerations should be given as to whether the new law/system could inhibit predictability of new service providers or innovation businesses.
