Kim & Chang attorneys Sung Gweon Cho, Jung Hwan Song, and Jeonghoon Park received the “Excellence Award” in the case brief category of the 2018 Customs Valuation & Classification Research Paper/Case Brief Competition. 

A total of 112 teams, including customs brokers, lawyers, professors, university students, as well as former and current customs officers, participated in the competition hosted by the Customs Valuation & Classification Institute of the Korea Customs Service.

The Kim & Chang team, led by Mr. Cho, won the “Excellence Award” for their case brief regarding the “Ruling on Reasonable Taxation of Clinical Trial Pharmaceuticals.”

This competition was organized to seek solutions to various difficulties that occur following the appearance of new trade products and types by studying “customs valuation” (tax base) and “classification” (tariff), which are the foundations for imposing customs duties, from an academic and judicial perspective.
