On April 17, 2018, Kim & Chang presented the fifth session of the International Construction Lecture Series with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (“Pillsbury”), one of the leading construction law firms in the US.  The seminar was co-hosted by Kim & Chang and the International Contractors Association of Korea.

Pillsbury’s Simon P. Barrett, John R. Heisse, and Vincent C. Zabielski presented on an international arbitration case in which the firm successfully defended a USD 7.6 billion warranty claim regarding the San Onofre nuclear project.  In addition, Pillsbury gave a session on successful risk management in overseas nuclear power projects. 

Byung-Woo Im, a member of Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice, organized the event.  Other team members, Sungjean Seo, Joel Richardson, and Dami Park participated as panelists, while Chang-hee Shin provided summarized interpretations to the attendees.

In continuation from last year’s lecture series, Kim & Chang’s International Construction & Project Team plans to continue organizing more sessions with construction law experts to assist Korean companies engaging in overseas projects.
