Joint Seminar with Korea Capital Market Institute on “Innovative Finance, Cross-Border Transactions and Regulatory Harmony”

On February 2, 2018, Kim & Chang and the Korea Capital Market Institute hosted a joint seminar on “Innovative Finance, Cross-Border Transactions and Regulatory Harmony.”

The seminar’s first session focused on “Innovative Finance and Capital Market Regulations.”  During this session, experts from the Korea Capital Market Institute presented on the role of entrepreneurial capital markets for innovative growth, and on regulatory issues involving the algorithm of robo-advisors.

In the following session entitled “Harmony in Cross-border Transactions and Regulations,” Kwon-Eui Park, a Kim & Chang attorney, spoke about cross-border securities business and offshore issuance of derivative-linked securities.  Deutsche Bank representative also presented on intra-firewalls imposed on information sharing with foreign affiliates, and on improvements for investor registration certificate requirement for foreign investors. 

The presentations were followed by Q&A discussions on the current regulatory regime and practice among both public and private practitioners and scholars at the forefront of the finance industry.
