The amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information (the “AML Act”) was promulgated on August 18, 2026 and went into effect on August 20, 2026. The amended Enforcement Decree is designed to strengthen the registration regime for virtual asset service providers, tighten anti-money laundering obligations in connection with transfers of virtual assets and clarify the methods and scope of customer due diligence to be performed by virtual asset service providers.
