Byung-Chol (B.C.) Yoon, a member of Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice, participated as moderator in the “2026 ICC Korea-ASEAN Conference on International Arbitration” jointly hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“KCCI”) and the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) on April 28, 2026.

This seminar, which brought together domestic and international experts, as well as key stakeholders in the field of international arbitration, provided an in-depth analysis of the evolving landscape of international arbitration in Korea. Participants engaged in profound discussions on the strategic implications of selecting Seoul as a seat and comprehensive approaches to enhancing procedural efficiency.

The event featured Claudia Salomon, President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, who delivered a comprehensive overview of the newly amended ICC Arbitration Rules (effective as of June 1, 2026).

In the subsequent session, Mr. Yoon took the stage as moderator, leading an intensive discussion on the latest developments and emerging issues in international arbitration concerning Korea. Mr. Yoon shared his extensive expertise on maximizing efficiency in managing arbitration proceedings within cross-border dispute scenarios. In particular, he introduced practical strategies for domestic corporations to preemptively mitigate arbitration risks, highlighting strategic considerations in the appointment of arbitrators and ways to expedite proceedings by leveraging recent institutional updates.
