To achieve this, the government has engaged key industry players, analyzing their current status and providing them with tailored consulting services. In 2025, the third year of this initiative, the focus was on the steel and petrochemical industries—Korea’s representative high-emission, equipment-intensive fields.

For this, the Sustainability & Climate Center at Kim & Chang actively supported the government’s initiative by conducting a rigorous analysis of Scope 3 emissions for the participating market-leading companies, providing optimized calculation methods and actionable carbon reduction strategies. Furthermore, to enhance industry-wide resilience, our firm also assisted in comprehensively drafting the Scope 3 Emission Calculation Guidance for these industries in Korean and English. As global carbon trade barriers intensify, our firm helped establish a vital foundation for value-chain data management, safeguarding the export competitiveness of Korean companies.
