For this year’s Compliance Outlook newsletter, we have focused on three key trends that are expected to have a major impact in the areas of criminal defense, compliance, and internal investigations. First, both the current administration and legislative efforts have been focused on heightening the duties of directors and senior management for the introduction and operation of a compliance governance structure. Second, major changes in the Korean criminal justice system are expected to occur in 2026 with the creation of new organizations to replace the Prosecutors Office in conducting criminal investigations. Third, ongoing legislative efforts are aimed at the promotion of whistleblower reports and conducting internal investigations.
