2025.10.24

Byung-Woo Im, a member of Kim & Chang’s International Arbitration & Cross-Border Litigation Practice, participated in the 11th International Society of Construction Law Conference, which was held in Seoul from October 23 to 24, 2025.

The conference, held under the theme “Bridging the Past, Present, and Future,” featured presentations and discussions on key issues in the international construction sector, with legal and industry experts invited from around the world.

This marks the first time the Society of Construction Law’s (“SCL”) international conference is hosted in Northeast Asia. SCL Korea, where Mr. Im serves as the Vice President, successfully bid to host the event in Seoul, setting an encouraging attendance record with approximately 200 registered participants from overseas alone.

Mr. Im participated as the moderator for the session titled “AI and Innovative Technologies for Claims in the Future.” Mr. Im and the panelists focused their discussion on the utilization of AI and innovative technologies for filing claims, and AI-driven construction claims and disputes management. Due to the recent surge in interest within the construction industry regarding the use of AI, the session was successfully concluded as one of the most successful of the conference.

Mr. Im also delivered the closing remarks, where he emphasized the necessity of jointly examining the evolution and changes in construction contracts as both the industry and technology advance.
