On March 20, 2025, the National Assembly passed the amendment to the Game Industry Promotion Act (the “GIPA,” and such amendment, the “Amendment”). The Amendment is expected to take effect in October 2025, six months after its promulgation.
The plenary session of the National Assembly passed the Amendment after the Legislation and Judiciary Committee made certain technical revisions to the version of the bill that was approved by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee on March 5, 2025, as we informed you earlier (Link).
In light of the recent developments, it will be crucial to continue monitoring how the scope of “minor revisions”—which are exempt from the duty to report content revisions under the GIPA—will be defined in the subordinate regulation, as well as any changes to the requirements and practices for the designation of self-rating business entities.
