On November 18, Kim & Chang co-hosted a seminar with Arnold & Porter and the Singapore International Mediation Centre (“SIMC”) as part of the New York Arbitration Week 2024.

The Seminar was titled “Mediation with Asian Contractual Partners: Bridging the Cultural Divide” and was moderated by Wonyoung (Karyn) Yoo from Kim & Chang.

Along with panelists from the SIMC and Arnold & Porter, Joel E. Richardson discussed unique challenges American parties face when seeking to mediate disputes with Asian counterparties. Mr. Richardson also addressed the strategies that American parties pursue to encourage Asian parties to agree to mediate and to overcome differences in the mediation culture while engaging in mediations between Asian and American parties.
