Discussion on Trade Disputes and Responses to Strengthened Trade Regulations at NYSBA's 2018 Asian Regional Meeting

24 Apr 2018

On April 24, 2018, Youngjin Jung, a member of Kim & Chang’s International Trade & Customs Practice, was invited to speak on trade disputes and foreign companies' responses resulting from the strengthened international trade regulations at the New York State Bar Association’s (“NYSBA”) 2018 Asian Regional Meeting.  The two-day meeting took place at the Seoul High Court on April 23 to 24, 2018.

Dr. Jung was a panelist on the session entitled “Developments in International Trade and Investment: KORUS and Looming Trade Wars.”  Along with Judge Jennifer Choe-Groves, he discussed updates to sanctions based on Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, and the systems of the Court of International Trade (“CIT”), which became a popular system for trade-related dispute settlement.

The NYSBA held this regional meeting for the first time in Asia, and the Judicial Policy Research Institute and the Seoul Bar Association co-hosted the event.  Lawyers from Korea and the United States attended the meeting to discuss international free trade agreements, cross-border insolvency, anti-corruption law and other current international law-related issues.
